What is 21700 lithium ion battery

The 21700 rechargeable lithium ion battery is a type of cylindrical battery, in which: 21- means that the diameter of the cylindrical rechargeable battery cell is 21mm; 700- means that the aspect ratio of the cylindrical rechargeable battery is 70.0mm.

The 21700 rechargeable lithium ion batteryl is developed to improve the rational utilization of rechargeable batteries by combining the regulation and long-range of electric vehicles. The same raw material, 21700 lithium ion battery can be 35% higher in volume compared to ordinary 18650 cylindrical lithium ion battery. The contact parts of the 21700 lithium battery plug are designed with copper rods, which have strong anti-instantaneous working ability and large current-carrying capacity.

Advantages of 21700 lithium ion battery

The 21700 rechargeable lithium ion battery has four distinct advantages:

(1) The unit volume of the rechargeable battery is increased by 35%. Taking the 21700 rechargeable battery produced by Tesla automobiles as an example, from 18650 to 21700, the energy of a single battery can be increased by 34.8ah, which is an increase of 35%.

(2) The system software of the rechargeable battery is about 20% higher than the energy. According to the data released by Tesla, the 18650 rechargeable battery system software is initially used for 250wh/kg of energy, the 21700 rechargeable battery system software is used for 300wh/kg of energy, and the volume of the 21700 rechargeable battery is nearly 20% higher than the original 18650 lithium ion battery.

(3) The cost of system software is estimated to be reduced by 9%. According to the statistical analysis of battery price data released by Tesla, the market price of 21700 rechargeable battery driven lithium-ion battery system software is $170/wh, while the market price of 18650 rechargeable battery system software is $185/wh. Applying 21,700 rechargeable batteries to the Model 3 can reduce the cost of system software by about 9%.

(4) The net weight of system software is reduced by 10%. As the unit volume increases, the unit energy ratio increases, the total number of batteries required under the same kinetic energy can be reduced by about 1/3, and the total number of metal components and electrical components selected for the battery pack can reduce the difficulty of battery managing systems coefficient. After converting Samsung’s sdi to the new 21700 rechargeable battery, the system software was found to be 10% less net weight than the existing battery.

Compared with other battery models, the raw materials, processing technology and technical steps of the 21700 rechargeable battery are relatively advanced.
